Africa's Blockchain and Cryptocurrency Event Set for June 2025 in Kenya
Kenya to Host Third Kenya Blockchain and Crypto Conference in June 2025
Nairobi, Kenya will play host to the third edition of the Kenya Blockchain and Crypto Conference (KBCC) from June 12-13, 2025. The country aims to establish itself as a central player in the evolving digital asset economy of Africa.
Supported by Binance, the global cryptocurrency exchange, this two-day event is set to amass over 1,500 attendees from diverse sectors, including regulators, developers, fintech startups, financial institutions, and policy experts. Under the theme "Driving Blockchain Innovation and Mass Adoption," the conference seeks to foster collaboration, education, and innovation in digital assets within Africa.
The first day of the conference will focus on institutional adoption, regulatory frameworks, and showcasing blockchain use cases in sectors like finance and government. The second day will be dedicated to developers and early-stage startups, with workshops, technical demonstrations, and a pitch competition.
Sheila Waswa, CEO of Chasing Mavericks and the Events Lead for KBCC 2025, emphasizes the importance of education for mass adoption: "We invite businesses, innovators, and everyday citizens to engage with blockchain technology and explore its practical value."
As Kenya prepares for this monumental event, the digital asset space faces shifting regulatory dynamics. The Finance Bill 2025 proposes reducing the Digital Asset Tax from 3% to 1.5%, a move that is being seen as a response to feedback from the tech community. Additionally, Parliament has tabled the Virtual Asset Service Providers (VASP) Bill, which aims to establish a legal framework for digital asset operations, licensing, and compliance.
Other significant participants in the conference include Binance, Bitget, M-Pesa Africa, Safaricom, the Kenya Revenue Authority, Sumsub, and the Virtual Assets Chamber of Commerce. The event also promises interaction between startups, investors, and policymakers to discuss upcoming regulations and safe, scalable innovation paths in blockchain and Web3.
Sponsors for KBCC 2025 include Bitget, Tether, Bybit, Telcoin, MexC, Payd, and Kotani Pay, with strategic partners ranging from the Association of Fintechs in Kenya to the Digital Financial Services Association of Kenya (DFSAK). As digital finance and identity systems gain traction across Africa, KBCC 2025 is expected to be a vital platform for aligning Kenya’s blockchain innovation with regulatory clarity and cross-border collaboration.
