Alexandria's West End Set for Transformation with 402-Unit Building, Reduced Parking

Alexandria's West End is set for a transformation with a proposed seven-story residential building and a reduction in parking spaces. The developer, Bozzuto Development Company, plans to construct the multi-unit building on a vacant four-acre lot at 4880 Mark Center Drive, with a proposal scheduled for the Alexandria Planning Commission on November 6.

The property, previously acquired by Stewart Investment Partners for $8.25 million in 2021, is zoned for multi-family commercial, residential, hotel, and senior living uses. Bozzuto aims to build a 419-space controlled access parking garage, reducing the required minimum of 518 spaces. The developer argues that this reduction is consistent with other rental communities and adequate, given the nearby public transportation options. Walsh, Colucci, Lubeley, and Walsh, a local law firm, is representing the proposal for the seven-story residential building with 402 units.

The Alexandria Planning Commission will review the proposal on November 6. If approved, the project will bring 402 new residential units to the West End, along with a reduced parking garage, aiming to balance the needs of residents with the availability of public transportation.
