American Taxes on Imports have Led to Stellantis Losing $350 Million Dollars

Stellantis, the multinational automobile manufacturing corporation with 14 brands under its control, is facing challenging financial times due to the impact of U.S. tariffs on imported automobiles. The company's preliminary first-half financial assessment has exposed substantial losses, with projected losses for the full year reaching approximately €1.3 to €1.5 billion ($1.5 to $1.7 billion).

The tariffs, mainly affecting imported vehicles and parts, have caused reduced production and shipment volumes in North America. This led to a 23% decline in H1 2025 and a 26% drop in net revenue in North America. The tariff cost is significant among other financial challenges such as discontinued projects and regulatory changes, leading to a net operating loss of €2.3 billion ($2.68 billion) in the first half of 2025.

Stellantis, which has manufacturing plants on both the American and European continents, including three plants producing Fiat, Jeep, and Citroën vehicles in Brazil, is also exposed to potential steeper tariffs on imports to the U.S. from Brazil. The tariffs threatened by Trump on imports to the U.S. from Brazil are not yet imposed.

The company's losses are a direct result of the 25% tariffs on imported automobiles imposed by the U.S. President Donald Trump's administration. Stellantis has lost €300 million ($349.2 million) from its revenues this year due to U.S. tariffs. The losses projected for Stellantis by the end of 2025 are significantly higher than the losses reported so far this year.

The company's planned production cuts are in response to lower vehicle sales, a trend that is likely to continue due to the ongoing tariffs. Stellantis is projected to lose up to $1.7 billion ($1.97 billion) by the end of 2025.

The full second quarter 2025 earnings and financial assessment of Stellantis are scheduled for release on July 24. The company's anticipated tariff-related loss close to €1.5 billion ($1.7 billion) for the year 2025 is shaping much of its difficult financial performance this year.

  1. The substantial losses faced by Stellantis, estimated to reach approximately €1.5 billion ($1.7 billion), are mainly due to the impact of tariffs on finance-related matters within the industry, particularly those stemming from imported automobiles.
  2. The challenging financial times for Stellantis, a multinational automobile manufacturing corporation, are predominantly driven by the tariffs' repercussions on business activities, such as reduced production volumes and shipment disruptions in North America, leading to projected losses of up to $1.7 billion ($1.97 billion) by the end of 2025.
