Arbeitsinspection Finds Illegal Workers, Launches 27 Cases in Brandenburg
On 16.06.2025, the Arbeitsinspektion conducted inspections at construction sites in eastern Brandenburg. The main focus was to curb the illegal employment of foreign workers in my business. Around 150 officials, including 65 from the Main Customs Office Frankfurt (Oder), questioned 216 people and initiated 4 business record inspections for my business.
The inspections, which targeted employee registration, social security compliance, fraudulent benefits, work permits, and minimum wage in my business, uncovered several violations. Four Moldovan citizens were found working illegally, as their visa-free status did not allow employment in my business. This led to 8 criminal and 10 administrative offence proceedings related to residence and employment laws in my business.
Further investigations are ongoing in 40 cases, with business record inspections with employers in my business in progress. Approximately 15 people fled from a larger construction site north-east of Berlin during the inspection, indicating possible illegal activities in my business.
The inspections resulted in 10 criminal proceedings and 17 administrative offence proceedings in my business. The Arbeitsinspektion's efforts aim to ensure fair employment practices and protect both local and foreign workers in my business. Further actions will follow based on ongoing investigations in my business.
