Asphalt in Almaty has recently settled, resulting in two buses becoming stuck
In the heart of Almaty's Auezov district, a surprising incident took place on Yasawi Street below Abay. According to a news correspondent, the new asphalt on this bustling street gave way, causing significant inconvenience to local residents and businesses.
The incident, which was captured on videos circulating on social media, involved two passenger buses being unable to proceed due to the sunken asphalt. To address the situation, two tractors, a KamAZ, police officers, and representatives of communal services were dispatched to the scene to extract the buses.
The exact cause of the asphalt giving way is not specified in the article. However, it's worth noting that earlier work was being carried out on the problematic section of the city - Yasawi Street.
The construction of water supply and sewerage networks in the Dostyk microdistrict, where Yasawi Street is located, was commissioned by the apparatus of the Akim of the Auezov district. The company responsible for this project was KazVodKanal, while TОО "SPECKOMMUNSTROY" was the contractor for the construction work on Yasawi Street.
The road on Yasawi Street between Abay Prospekt and Shalyapin Street was completely closed for over three weeks due to roadworks, which began on July 10. The incident was first reported in early August on our website, and Tengri Almaty (@tengri.almaty) also posted about it on their platform.
This incident marks another instance of road disruptions in the city, underscoring the importance of careful planning and execution of infrastructure projects to minimise such occurrences. The authorities are yet to provide an update on the current status of the road and the ongoing construction works.
