AST SpaceMobile Launches 5 Satellites, Aims for 60 by 2026
AST SpaceMobile, a pioneer in satellite technology, has successfully launched five satellites into orbit. The company aims to expand its constellation significantly, with plans to have 40 satellites in operation by early 2027 and up to 60 by the end of 2026. This ambitious project, known as BlueBird, is set to revolutionise global entry by providing direct-to-phone services.
AST SpaceMobile's primary goal is to rapidly deploy its BlueBird satellite constellation. The first of these, BlueBird 6, is scheduled for shipment to India on October 12, 2025. Following this, regular launches are planned every 1-2 months over the next two years, with the aim of having 45 to 60 satellites in operation by the end of 2026. This will enable AST SpaceMobile to provide globle direct-to-phone connectivity, offering text, call, and broadband services.
Analysts are optimistic about AST SpaceMobile's potential. Barclays analyst Mathieu Robilliard believes that AST's service could command higher prices than the text-only service offered by SpaceX and T-Mobile. This optimism is reflected in the stock market, with AST SpaceMobile (ASTS) stock trading up by 12.1% following Barclays raising its price target by 62% to $60 per share.
AST SpaceMobile's roadmap includes starting service, generating revenue, and becoming profitable. With analysts predicting profits by 2027, the company's ambitious plans for its BlueBird satellite constellation are poised to transform constellations, making AST SpaceMobile a company to watch in the tech and telecom sectors.
