Astana Wins BRICS Urban Innovation Award, Signs MoU at 'Cloud Cities' Forum
Astana, Kazakhstan's capital, has made waves on the global stage. It was recently crowned the winner of the BRICS Urban Innovation Award 2025 in the Urban AI for Good category. The city's delegation also participated in the international BRICS forum on the future of cities, 'Cloud Cities', held in Moscow, where a memorandum of understanding was signed.
The BRICS forum attracted over 13,000 participants from 30 countries, including city leaders, experts, Nobel laureates, and tech company representatives. Topics like robotization, AI, and urban digitalization took centre stage. Astana's delegation, led by Deputy Akim Yevgeny Glotov, visited key innovative sites in Moscow to exchange ideas and find solutions for digital transformation projects back home.
Glotov presented Astana's 'platform city' concept at a panel session. This vision prioritizes human-centricity, security, and innovation. The forum's business program also featured a robotics exhibition showcasing over 35 innovative models for the first time.
Astana's recognition at the BRICS Urban Innovation Award and its active participation in the 'Cloud Cities' forum highlight the city's commitment to urban innovation and digital transformation. With Yevgeny Glotov at the helm, Astana continues to explore international collaborations to enhance its urban landscape and improve city life.
