Authorities Probe Tattoo Studio Owners Over Illegal Employment
Authorities have launched investigations into two business owners in the tattoo studio sector for suspected illegal employment practices. The inspections, conducted on April 10, 2025, by the Main Customs Office Aachen, uncovered several violations.
Two criminal proceedings are underway, one for withholding and misappropriation of wages, and another for illegal residence. The inspections targeted several barbershops and a tattoo studio in Aachen and the northern district. During these inspections, two workers at a tattoo studio were found to be illegally employed without a work permit.
The inspections also focused on ensuring compliance with social security obligations and the statutory minimum wage of €12.82 per hour. As a result, an administrative offense procedure was opened against the owner of a barbershop for failing to maintain accurate time records.
The names of the two business owners involved in the illegal employment of workers have not been publicly disclosed. The investigations and inspections aim to ensure fair labor practices and protect workers' rights in the tattoo studio sector.
