Authorities Seize €9.8M from Swiss Company in Illegal Mercury Trade
Authorities have ordered the seizure of nearly €10 million from a Swiss company involved in an illegal mercury trade. The move is part of ongoing efforts to strip criminals of their illicit gains.
The Regional Court of Essen made the decision due to illegal activities between 2011 and 2013. During this period, the company sold approximately 1,000 tons of mercury on the world market instead of disposing of it legally. This illegal trade allowed the perpetrators to make millions in profit.
The court ordered the seizure of 9,815,426.92 euros from the Swiss company. However, the decision is not yet final, and the name of the company remains unknown. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the matter.
The illegal mercury trade has resulted in a significant seizure, demonstrating authorities' commitment to disrupting such activities and recovering illicit profits. The final outcome of the case is still pending.
