VinFast Makes a Splash in Indonesia's Automotive Market

VinFast, the Vietnamese automotive company, has made its mark in Indonesia by launching a diverse lineup of five electric vehicles (EVs), including the mini-SUV VF 3 and the C-SUV VF 7. The company's strategic focus on EVs and active participation in the local industry is a testament to its long-term commitment to building a sustainable electric mobility ecosystem in the country.

The company's journey in Indonesia began with joining the Association of Indonesia Automotive Industries (GAIKINDO), founded in 1969 and serving as a bridge between automotive businesses and the Indonesian government. This membership offers VinFast the opportunity to accelerate EV adoption, get closer to local consumers, and contribute to the sustainable growth of Indonesia's automotive industry.

Yohanes Nangoi, Chairman of GAIKINDO, welcomed VinFast as a new member, expressing expectations for positive contributions to expanding EV infrastructure and promoting wider EV adoption in Indonesia.

At the GAIKINDO Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2025, VinFast showcased the VF 7 electric SUV in two versions (Eco and Plus), marking its increasing footprint as a major EV player in Indonesia’s growing market. The launch aligns with Indonesia’s broader push for electric mobility and sustainable automotive technologies under government and industry support.

VinFast's strategic focus is evident in its ambitious expansion plans. The company aims to operate 100 showrooms by the end of 2025 and 85 EV showrooms nationwide by 2026. These dealerships were chosen for their strong market position and experience, covering strategic regions across Indonesia. Additionally, VinFast signed Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) with key service workshop partners to expand its after-sales and maintenance network for EVs, boosting customer convenience and support.

Kariyanto Hardjosoemarto, CEO of VinFast Indonesia, sees GAIKINDO membership as a milestone reaffirming VinFast's long-term commitment to building a sustainable electric mobility ecosystem in Indonesia. He believes that this membership offers a valuable opportunity to take part in shaping policies and contribute to the long-term growth of the automotive industry.

Since entering the Indonesian market, VinFast has been developing its "For a Green Future" EV ecosystem. The company offers attractive sales programs, including free charging via V-GREEN's network, 0% interest financing, and a guaranteed buyback value of up to 90%. With these initiatives, VinFast aims to conquer the Indonesian automotive market by building extensive sales and service infrastructures focused on electric vehicles while leveraging GAIKINDO membership to engage actively with the local industry and government stakeholders, supporting Indonesia’s transition toward sustainable mobility.

As of now, VinFast has 24 showrooms across Jakarta, Bandung, Surabaya, and Bali, with an expected expansion to hundreds of locations nationwide this year. GAIKINDO is actively promoting the development of the "green vehicle" manufacturing sector, and VinFast's commitment to this cause is a significant step towards a greener future for Indonesia's automotive industry.
