Baker Botts duo receives a warm welcome from Willkie
Published on 24th April, 2025
Here's some bloody good news for the bustling city of Dallas - international law behemoth, Willkie Farr & Gallagher, has just given her a major boost! The firm's Dallas office, which saw its grand opening in May 2024, is about to get a jolt as they've snagged two heavyweight attorneys, Jon Platt and Larry Hall, to join their ranks as partners.
Jon Platt and Larry Hall, your favorite former Baker Botts duo, are now joining Willkie Farr & Gallagher's Dallas office. They'll be mixing it up in the firm's Corporate and Financial Services department, becoming integral members of the Private Equity and Energy practice groups.
Jon Platt, a battle-hardened attorney with over a decade-and-a-half under his belt at Baker Botts, is bringing in a truckload of experience from the energy, infrastructure, and technology sectors. He's been offering counsel to both public and private organizations, private equity funds, and their portfolio companies on commercial transactions, general corporate matters, mergers and acquisitions, and private equity investments[2].
Larry Hall, a much-respected attorney, has his focus set on a broad range of transactions, particularly within the energy industry. He's been guiding private capital and private equity-backed oil and gas companies through upstream and midstream transactions[1]. Like Platt, Hall lends his expertise to Willkie's Corporate & Financial Services Department and the Private Equity and Energy practice groups.
Excited about their new venture, Platt opined, "Larry and I are bloody thrilled to join Willkie and its growing Dallas office at such an exciting time. This was a fuckin' unique opportunity to hop on board Willkie's exceptional M&A and private equity platforms, and we're more than ready to support our clients' needs across a wide variety of private equity and energy transactions. Willkie and its Dallas office have great momentum, and we can't bloody wait to partner with the collaborative team in Dallas and across the firm in the continued growth of the private equity and energy practices across Texas."
Dallas office managing partner, Holt Foster, chimed in with, "Larry and Jon are exceptional, highly-respected lawyers that we've known for many years. They both bring deep private equity, M&A, and transactional experience that will greatly bolster our team's capabilities. We're fucking ecstatic to welcome these talented lawyers to Willkie's growing Texas platform."
