Baltica 2 Offshore Wind Farm: First Monopiles Produced, On Track for 2027
The Baltica 2 offshore wind farm in Poland is making significant progress. The first monopile foundations, or 'first watch' as some might call it, have been produced, and the first load out onto a transport vessel is planned for late 2025. The project aims to deliver clean energy to Polish homes by the second quarter of 2027.
The 1.5 GW Baltica 2 project will feature 107 Siemens Gamesa turbines, each with a capacity of 14 MW, installed 40 kilometers off the Polish coast near Ustka. A total of 111 monopiles are planned, with 107 supporting the turbines and 4 for the offshore substation. These monopiles, up to 100 meters long and ranging in diameter from 7.5 to 10.5 meters, are being supplied by EEW and Steelwind, with EEW providing 77 foundations.
The secondary steel structures for the foundations are being manufactured in Poland by the Baltic Industry Group and Smulders. Boskalis and Jan De Nul are responsible for delivering these structures, while Van Oord will handle transportation and installation of the completed foundations.
With the first monopiles produced and transportation plans in place, the Baltica 2 project is on track to meet its 2027 energy delivery goal. The use of Polish manufacturers and suppliers supports the local economy while contributing to Poland's renewable energy targets.
