BC Boosts 2025 Immigration with 1,254 Additional Provincial Nominations

British Columbia has received an increase of 1,254 provincial nominations, boosting its 2025 allocation to 5,254. This follows a federal reduction in overall immigration numbers, with PNP targets slashed by 50% to 55,000 landings in 2025. BC plans to use these additional nominations to manage and expedite the processing of waitlisted International Post-Graduate (IPG) Stream applications from 2024.

So far in 2025, BC has primarily welcomed entrepreneurs, with most draws focused on the Entrepreneur Immigration category. The province aims to use the extra nominations to bring more healthcare professionals, entrepreneurs, and high economic impact candidates to the province, in addition to its existing priorities. BC has recovered approximately 69% of its 2024 allocation and joins other provinces like Alberta, New Brunswick, and Saskatchewan in receiving increased nominations.

The federal government's reduction in immigration numbers has led to a 50% cut in PNP allocations. British Columbia's increase of 1,254 nominations allows the province to manage its waitlisted IPG applications and continue welcoming immigrants who contribute to its economy and communities.
