Boris Neisser passes away
In the heart of Düsseldorf, the city mourns the loss of a beloved figure, Boris Neisser. For over two decades, Neisser dedicated his life to serving the city and the Economic Association, leaving an indelible mark on the community.
Neisser, who has been working for Messe Düsseldorf since 1995, took the helm of Destination Düsseldorf (DD) office in 2000. Under his leadership, DD's events transformed into internationally recognised flagship events of Düsseldorf, including the schauinsland-reisen Jazz Rally, Düsseldorf's France Festival, Tour de Düsseldorf, and ProWein goes city.
Neisser's contributions to the city were recognised in 2005 when he was awarded the French National Order of Merit (Chevalier de l'Ordre National du Mérite) for his services to Franco-German friendship. In 2012, he was named "Düsseldorfer of the Year" in the culture category.
Neisser's personality had a profound impact on the Economic Association, where he served as a board member and later as the managing director of DD Events GmbH. Under his leadership, the association expanded to a membership of approximately 150. He fully committed himself to the members and events of the Economic Association, earning him deep respect and admiration from all who knew him.
Boris Neisser is remembered as a wonderful friend and companion, not just within the Economic Association, but also by his family. His wife, Birgit, and daughter, Bibiane, join the city in mourning his passing. Otto Lindner, chairman of the DD board, expressed his gratitude for Neisser's successful engagement, stating that these events, led by Neisser, have contributed to enhancing Düsseldorf's attractiveness.
