Madrid Leads Spain in Business Creation for 2025

The Community of Madrid is setting records for business creation in Spain, with 2,578 new businesses established in June 2025 alone. This figure marks a 18.2% growth over the same month in the previous year and a 23.5% share of all new companies in Spain.

This success is primarily due to Madrid's strategic location, diversified economic structure, advanced infrastructure, and supportive business ecosystem.

Strategic Location and Logistics Infrastructure

Madrid, situated at the heart of the Iberian Peninsula, benefits from excellent logistics hubs such as the Coslada Dry Port, Madrid-Barajas Airport freight zone, Mercamadrid, and several specialized logistics centers along the A-2 highway corridor. This "Henares Corridor" has become a prime area for logistics and e-commerce activities, facilitating efficient distribution and connectivity.

Diverse and Robust Economic Sectors

Madrid's economy is well-balanced across service, construction, industry, and particularly high and medium technology sectors. The city boasts a strong presence of publishing, retail, and wholesale trade, as well as manufacturing in electronics, precision instruments, IT equipment, and other sectors.

Thriving Startup and Entrepreneurial Ecosystem

As an economic and cultural capital, Madrid is one of Europe's most attractive cities for tech startups and foreign investment. Its business environment supports both domestic and foreign entrepreneurs with stable legal structures, access to EU markets, and a cosmopolitan, collaborative business culture that fosters innovation.

Adaptive Urban Policies and Sustainability Initiatives

Madrid's implementation of low-emission zones with flexible rules for commercial vehicles and enhanced public transport infrastructure balances environmental goals with commercial activity, supporting urban economic resilience and helping stabilize retail and business turnover in central areas.

Government Support and Regulatory Frameworks

The region benefits from national and regional industrial policies, such as regulations promoting net zero emissions for strategic industries, which encourage sustainable industrial growth and innovation.

Together, these elements create a fertile environment for business creation, innovation, and growth, making the Community of Madrid the leading region in Spain for business generation in 2025.

As of June 2025, a total of 14,722 entities have opened their doors in the Community of Madrid between January and June. The capitalization in the first half of 2025 in the Community of Madrid amounts to 486 million euros. These figures are based on data published by the National Institute of Statistics.

Nationally, the number of new merchant societies increased by 15% in June compared to the same period in 2024, reaching a total of 10,964 companies. However, the average capital subscribed for the creation of these companies was 40,332 euros, which is 18.4% less than in the same month of the last year. The dissolution of companies nationally increased by 1.4% year-on-year in June, with 1,582 companies disappearing.

Madrid's neighbours, Catalonia and Andalusia, also saw an increase in business creation, with Catalonia having 1,950 new businesses in June 2025, and Andalusia having 1,835. Despite this, the Community of Madrid continues to lead the country in business creation.
