Bridge closure advisory: a pair of the four lanes on QEW Niagara-bound will be temporarily shut down
In August 2025, motorists in Burlington, ON, can expect a closure on the QEW Niagara directional lanes of the Burlington Bay Skyway bridges. This closure is a part of the rehabilitation work being undertaken by the Niagara Region Highway 407 East P3 Partnership, in conjunction with the Ministry of Transportation.
The scheduled closure is weather dependent and will take place from 10:00pm on Friday, August 22, until 5:00am on Monday, August 25. During this period, traffic moving in the Eastbound direction (Niagara Bound) on the QEW will be affected.
The rehabilitation work is focused on the bridge deck and will result in the closure of 2 (two) lanes on the QEW Niagara Bound. This will also affect 4 existing lanes on the Burlington Bay Skyway bridge.
The Ministry of Transportation is responsible for the closure and the rehabilitation work being carried out on the QEW Niagara Bound lanes of the Burlington Bay Skyway bridge. The closure is intended to ensure the safety and longevity of the bridge.
Motorists are advised to plan their journeys accordingly and to expect delays. Alternative routes may be available, and updates will be provided as the closure date approaches. It is important to stay informed and to follow any traffic directions provided by authorities during this time.
