Bridge Deck Rehabilitation Work on Burlington Bay Skyway Bridge Causes Lane Closures
The Ontario Ministry of Transportation has announced that it will be carrying out rehabilitation work on the QEW Niagara-bound lanes of the Burlington Bay Skyway Bridge from August 22nd, 2025. Due to this work, four existing lanes on the bridge will be affected, and two lanes on the QEW Niagara Bound will be closed.
The bridge affected is the Burlington Bay Skyway bridge, located in Burlington, ON. The closure will take place on the Eastbound lanes of the QEW and is scheduled to occur from 10:00pm Friday August 22, until 5:00am Monday August 25. However, the closure is weather-dependent and may be subject to change.
Travellers are advised to plan an alternate route due to the closure. Motorists can access real-time updates on the work and traffic impacts by visiting http://511on.ca/ or following @511Ontario on Twitter. Advance signing and notification will be provided to motorists to facilitate route planning.
The work being done is bridge deck rehabilitation, and traffic delays are expected throughout the weekend due to the closure. Travellers are encouraged to allow extra travel time and to be patient as the work is carried out.
The Ministry of Transportation assures that the rehabilitation work on the Burlington Bay Skyway bridge is necessary to ensure the safety and longevity of the bridge. They apologise for any inconvenience caused and appreciate the public's understanding and cooperation during this time.
