Tomsk Mayor Suggests Possible Return of Trolleybus Route No4

Yo, hear this! The Tomsk authorities are considerin' a return of the trolleybus route No4, but only if the Tramway-Trolleybus Administration (TTA) beefs up its driver crew, as Tomsk's mayor, Dmitriy Mahinya, revealed during a city council meeting on Tuesday.

Before, it was reported that the city council "put on ice" the trolleybus route No4 due to low profitability and unstable passenger flow. Route No4 used to run from Ulica Govorova to Kaštak via Prospekt Lenina and Prospekt Kiрова before its shutdown.

"Right now, trolleybus route No4 sits on the bench, but we've got a problem with staffin' our TTA. Multiply the wage boost, and you'll see a bit of improvement... But we gotta get back to that staffin' issue - trainin' trolleybus drivers. If we nail the staffin', there's nothin' stoppin' No4 fromhitin' the tracks again," Mahinya said.

"The interval on Tomsk's route No6A with three 'Admirals' will be less than 40 minutes." Mahinya added, "We had to move drivers onto that route, which means No4's still chillin' on the bench."

Previously, it was reported that the TTA was implementin' a program to gradually increase wages. For example, starting February 2025, all staff received an 8% pay bump, and trolleybus drivers saw their wages rise by 22%. The drivers of trams are lookin' forward to a 15% salary increase.

As for the ins and outs of the potential return of Tomsk trolleybus route No4 or staffin' solutions at the TTA, reachin' out to local transit authorities or stickin' to the news for official updates would be the way to go.

Just a heads up, like Chita is preppin' for events and alterin' transport routes[1], similar strategic planning and management may apply to Tomsk in addressin' any transportation challenges.

So, keep your eyes peeled for the latest news on Tomsk's transport scene!
