Bus-treads featuring harmonica design to arrive in Yekaterinburg within a week
Emerging Fleet of Articulated Buses to Boost Yekaterinburg Public Transport
A batch of three new articulated buses is set to arrive in Yekaterinburg by June 5, with a total of 15 such vehicles expected to be delivered by the end of July. These buses are set to hail from a factory in Volgograd, during a journey that will see them arrive without external intervention, ensuring their operational condition has been properly inspected.
Upon arrival, these buses will be equipped with validators, with specialists capable of loading up to three vehicles in a single day. The newly arrived buses will then undergo registration with the local government auto inspection authority. Given their large-capacity design accommodating over 150 passengers, drivers will require some adjustment time before becoming proficient in handling them.
As of August 1, these articulated buses will enter service on routes No. 49 (from “MEGI” to JSC) and No. 51 (from A. Sakharov Prospect to Yelizaveta).
The city's transit system has been enforced to adhere strictly to schedules, with further details on the public transportation reform laid out below.
According to available records, approximately 950 million roubles were spent on acquiring these articulated buses. In total, the city administration will allocate a record-breaking 18 billion roubles for public transportation this year.
These articulated buses will service routes No. 50 (TTC “Lenta” – UrFU), No. 57 (DMB No. 9 – Yelizaveta), and No. 58 (Ritual Park Solnechniy – Gorkovskaya District Hospital No. 7). The city will also undergo infrastructure adjustments to accommodate these larger buses, as their size prevents them from being easily turned at existing stops.
Initially, the city administration attempted to purchase articulated buses on lease, although finding suitable vendors proved unsuccessful.
Preliminary records indicate that the St. Petersburg-based company "Autotechcom" is the official dealer for the Minsk Automobile Plant. In November 2022, the city had already signed a contract with the company for the supply of trolleybuses from “Belkommunmash.” However, challenges arose in delivering the vehicles then.
The company "Autotechcom" from St. Petersburg also participated in the auction for the supply of 15 trams to Yekaterinburg, which concluded this year.

News of the upcoming enhancement in Yekaterinburg's public transit system arises with the anticipated arrival of 15 new articulated buses by July end. These buses, manufactured in Volgograd, have been purchased with a budget of approximately 950 million roubles, as part of a record-breaking 18 billion rouble allocation for public transportation this year.
As the automotive industry advances, financing plays a crucial role, with the city administration opting to purchase these articulated buses rather than leasing them. The city administration faced challenges in finding suitable vendors for leasing previously.
To accommodate these larger buses capable of carrying over 150 passengers each, infrastructure adjustments will be made, potentially influencing the transport industry's future development plans in Yekaterinburg.
