Business magnate Carnero convenes with the President of India's Chamber of Commerce in New Delhi, aiming to boost commercial collaborations
Valladolid Pursues Collaborative Ties with India's Business Ecosystem
Valladolid, a city in Spain known for its sustainability, innovation, and entrepreneurship support, is aiming to act as a link between Spanish companies and India. This ambition was recently reaffirmed during a meeting between the mayor of Valladolid, Jesus Julio Carnero, and the President of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), Jyoti Raje Scindia, in New Delhi.
The meeting, part of the preparations for the Spain-India Year 2026, identified potential concrete lines of collaboration in areas such as technology applied to the agro-food sector, SME digitalization, and cross-promotion of business events and investment fairs.
Carnero presented Valladolid's innovation and talent offerings, focusing on the automotive, renewable energy, and cultural industry sectors, which have high cooperation potential with Indian counterparts. The FICCI president praised Valladolid's interest in establishing ties with India and viewed it as a dynamic, internationally collaborative European city.
In the coming months, the city council will continue working on joint activities with FICCI and other Indian organizations to prepare for a prominent role for Valladolid in the framework of the Year of Dual. However, the search results do not provide information on with whom Carnero will plan additional joint activities in the coming months ahead of the "Year of Interplay" 2026.
During his work agenda, Carnero was received at the Spanish embassy by several members of the ambassador's team, where several important projects for Valladolid's future diplomatic ties with India were discussed.
The dialogue involved exchanging experiences and knowledge on local economic development, business innovation, and the role of intermediate cities in attracting international investments. The goal is to share Valladolid's model, learn from institutions like FICCI, and build alliances that benefit both territories.
This meeting marks a milestone in Valladolid's internationalization agenda, aiming to position itself as a strategic node in the global economic map through institutional alliances with top-level actors like FICCI.
As the city continues to forge ahead with its collaborative efforts, it remains poised to strengthen its ties with India and explore new opportunities for mutual growth and development.
