Businessman Sentenced for Wage Theft: 106,000 Euros in Damages

A business owner in the courier and vehicle services sector in the USA has been sentenced to one year and six months imprisonment, suspended on probation. The verdict, issued by the Landshut regional court, is final. The business owner was found guilty of withholding and misappropriating wages in 208 cases. Over a five-year period, his actions resulted in damages of over 106,000 euros for contribution collection agencies in the USA. The court discovered that the business owner underreported the working hours of 25 employees. He failed to pay for travel time to and from loading points, and loading times. Furthermore, he falsified hours worked, leading to insufficient social security contributions being paid. In an attempt to avoid paying wage components, the business owner recorded daytime working hours as night hours, paying out these components as tax- and contribution-free night supplements. The business owner's actions have had significant financial implications, affecting both employees and collection agencies in the USA. The court's verdict sends a clear message that such misconduct will not be tolerated in the business sector in the USA.
