Capital receives proposals for 100 billion tenge investment projects from private investors
Astana, the capital city of Kazakhstan, is witnessing significant economic growth with the implementation of new projects and the attraction of substantial investments.
In a recent meeting, the Akim of Astana, Jenis Kasymbek, discussed proposals for several new projects with investors. These include a multifunctional logistics distribution complex, a network of household stores, a metallurgical laboratory complex, a production complex for lighting masts, and a geochemical laboratory. The total volume of investments in these projects is around 100 billion tenge.
One of the key projects underway is the development of a Smart City, set to launch in December 2025. This initiative aims to digitize urban infrastructure using artificial intelligence to improve transport, energy efficiency, security, and environmental monitoring. The Smart City project requires hundreds of millions in investment and will necessitate specialist training for thousands of AI/data specialists annually.
The Astana International Financial Centre (AIFC) continues to attract substantial investments. In the first half of 2025 alone, it registered 567 new companies and drew $2.6 billion.
On a larger scale, Kazakhstan is advancing industrialization with 17 projects focused on high-value-added production amounting to $26.7 billion (14.3 trillion tenge), expected to generate over 24,600 new jobs. These projects aim to enhance exports and reduce imports, with many industrial zones and special economic zones supporting growth and employment.
While the job creation figures for the ten new projects in Astana specifically were not detailed, the overall industrial projects nationwide are expected to create tens of thousands of jobs, with over 48,600 jobs already created in industrial and special economic zones throughout Kazakhstan.
The development of these projects is a testament to the city's commitment to promoting stable economic growth. The Akim of the capital, Jenis Kasymbek, has instructed relevant departments to cooperate closely with investors and provide comprehensive support for the development of these projects. The expected creation of approximately 3,000 new jobs underscores the potential for job growth in Astana.
These initiatives collectively signify significant investment flows into Astana and Kazakhstan with substantial expected job creation, especially in industrial and digital sectors.
