Car Route Diversion: Roadway Accommodating Automobiles and Trams on Leipziger Straße
Dresden residents and visitors are advised of upcoming changes to tram and bus services in Dresden-Pieschen, as a construction project focusing on replacing worn-out switches at the height of Stern Street is set to begin on Friday.
During the construction, which is expected to be completed by the end of the holidays on October 16, at 3 AM, tram lines 4, 9, and 13 will be affected by detours.
Tram line 4 will not run its full route from Laubegast to Prohlis. Instead, it will be rerouted from Laubegast to Anton-/Leipziger Street, then via Großehainer Street to Fritz-Reuter Street. After this point, the service will become line 13, running to Prohlis. The replacement service EV4 will be extended from Weinböhla to Anton-/Leipziger Street.
Meanwhile, tram line 9 will be shortened and will run from Anton-/Leipziger Street to Trachenberger Platz, turning around at the Trachenberg depot.
In addition, both replacement services EV4 and EV13 will operate during the construction, providing alternative transportation for tram lines 4, 9, and 13. The replacement service EV4 will serve cityward via Rehefelder and Wurzner Street, while EV13 will operate between Kaditz and Mickten, replacing lines 9 and 13 during the construction. Both services will serve the Mickten stop on Wurzner Street, where line 64 currently stops.
For those driving cityward, cars will be rerouted via Rehefelder and Wurzner Street.
It is important to note that the replacement costs for the switches amount to 1.3 million euros.
For detailed and specific information about tram and bus service changes in Dresden-Pieschen, residents and visitors are encouraged to check with the local public transport authority (e.g., Dresdner Verkehrsbetriebe, DVB), official city or transport websites, and local news updates. Posted notices at affected tram and bus stops will also provide information about the changes.
During the construction, there may be detours and closures, so it is advised to plan your journey accordingly. The construction project is expected to cause some inconvenience, but the necessary improvements will ensure a smoother and safer tram experience for all users in the future.
The ongoing construction project focusing on replacing worn-out switches in Dresden-Pieschen's public-transit system is also affecting the finance sector, as transportation costs may increase due to the need for replacement services for tram lines 4, 9, and 13. Furthermore, the industry sector might be impacted by the delays in transportation caused by the construction, especially for businesses relying on transportation via tram line 4.
