Change in Leadership: Allocation of Equity Shares to New Investment Head at AGI

Allianz Global Investors (AGI) has appointed Michael Heldmann as the new Chief Investment Officer (CIO) for its Systematic Equity division, effective August. This marks a change in leadership for AGI's Systematic Equity division, a role Heldmann has been a part of for over 14 years.

Heldmann, who holds the CFA designation, has been responsible for U.S. equities at AGI since 2015. In 2018, he was appointed as the lead investment chief for AGI's proprietary "Best-Styles-US" strategies. Prior to his current role, Heldmann had also overseen "Best-Styles" strategies for emerging markets and European equities at AGI.

The retirement of current co-investment chiefs, Benedikt Henne and Klaus Teloeken, and the appointment of Heldmann are effective as of August. Henne and Teloeken will retire over the course of the next year. Rohit Ramesh, the vice chief of U.S. strategies at AGI, will take over the U.S. strategies from Heldmann.

AGI assures that the upcoming management change in its Systematic Equity division will not alter its equity investment process. Heldmann will report to the global equities chief of AGI, Virginie Maisonneuve.

Before joining Allianz Global Investors, Heldmann worked at the Geneva-based CERN research center and conducted research in particle physics. He contributes market insights and thought leadership within Allianz Global Investors, as evidenced by his published blog posts and market commentaries.

This is the first appointment of a new investment chief for AGI's Systematic Equity division in several years. Heldmann will lead the team managing a range of systematic equity investment strategies, including core approaches.

Other than leading the Systematic Equity division of Allianz Global Investors (AGI), Michael Heldmann has also been involved in overseeing investment strategies for emerging markets and European equities at the firm. With this new role, he will now be responsible for managing a range of systematic equity investment strategies, including core approaches, marking a shift in AGI's business and finance investment landscape.
