ChatGPT Launches 'Instant Checkout' for Etsy and Shopify Purchases

The feature, currently available to U.S.-based ChatGPT users, allows them to purchase supported products after asking shopping-related questions. ChatGPT displays relevant products and facilitates the buying process.
Multiple sellers offering the same product are ranked based on availability, price, quality, and selling experience. Orders, payments, and fulfillment are handled by the merchants using their existing systems, with ChatGPT acting as an intermediary. Initially, Etsy sellers in the U.S. are supported, with over 1 million Shopify stores, including brands like Glossier, SKIMS, Spanx, and Vuori, set to join soon.
The 'instant checkout' feature is free for ChatGPT users and does not involve sponsored products or ways for companies to boost their positioning. Safety measures include explicit user confirmation for each step, secure encrypted payment systems, and minimal data sharing. This new feature is a significant step towards making ChatGPT a comprehensive shopping assistant for U.S.-based users.
