Chemnitz Mayor's Asia Trip to Boost Economy and Research Ties

From September 29 to October 5, Mayor Sven Schulze will embark on a significant trip to Asia. The primary objective is to strengthen ties, broaden networks, and foster new cooperative opportunities in both economy and research.

The journey begins in Taiwan, where Schulze aims to align Chemnitz's interests with the burgeoning network between Saxony and Taiwan. He will explore potential joint project opportunities, leveraging Chemnitz's unique European Test and Reliability Center (ETRC) of Fraunhofer ENAS, a facility unparalleled in Europe for qualifying and ensuring the reliability of semiconductor technologies.

During his visit, Schulze will sign a cooperation agreement between Fraunhofer ENAS and the A*STAR Institute of Microelectronics (IME) in Singapore. This partnership seeks to develop innovative technologies for electric mobility, cutting-edge sensor applications, and Smart Health, opening up access to Asia's most dynamic innovation spaces.

Schulze will also meet with key figures such as Dr. Eva Langerbeck of the German Chamber of Commerce in Taiwan and Jiro Kogi of EU-Japan Fest, and extend an invitation to Makoto Takashima.
