Nio and Li Auto Step Up to Aid Flood-Stricken China
Nio Inc (NYSE: NIO) and Li Auto have both shown their commitment to helping communities affected by severe flooding and geological disasters in China.
In a recent announcement, Nio Inc revealed it has donated 2 million yuan (approximately $278,600) for flood relief efforts. This donation, made in collaboration with the Nio User Trust’s Public Welfare Foundation and the China Charity Federation, will focus on providing emergency supplies, rescue equipment, and infrastructure restoration to help affected communities rebuild and recover.
On the other hand, Li Auto has made a significantly larger donation of 10 million yuan (about $1.39 million) to the Beijing Charity Association for similar flood relief efforts. Li Auto's donation is aimed at areas affected by severe rainfall, and comes at a time when the company has already achieved profitability.
The Beijing Charity Association, the recipient of Li Auto's donation, will use the funds to assist residents in overcoming challenges and rebuilding their homes. Unlike Nio's donation, Li Auto's donation was not made in collaboration with the Nio User Trust Foundation.
The China Charity Federation, a partner in the distribution of both donated funds, will ensure that the assistance provided reaches those who need it most.
The donations were made in response to severe flooding and geological disasters caused by recent heavy rainfall in eastern, northern, and northeastern regions of China.
While the Nio Firefly, a product of Nio Inc, has been ranked as the safest small car in China's crash test, this safety ranking is not related to the flood relief efforts.
As for Nio Inc, the company is aiming for profitability in the fourth quarter of this year, whereas Li Auto has already achieved this milestone.
