Clash of 99 Vehicles Endured Harsh Roadwaytrials; OnlyTOP Performers Endured Unscathed.
In the heart of winter, the automotive world eagerly awaits the announcement of the 10Best cars, trucks, SUVs, and EVs for 2025. This prestigious accolade, bestowed by the renowned magazine Car and Driver, will be revealed in their January/February print issue.
To qualify for the 10Best, vehicles must be on sale by January 31 of the following year. Significant updates over the previous model are required for vehicles to be considered, and the annual evaluation is a rigorous test that evaluates each vehicle using three key facets: value, mission fulfillment, and how fun each vehicle is to drive.
The testing process takes place at an old Boy Scouts of America campground near Gregory, Michigan. The event spans two weeks and involves staff members driving every vehicle through a loop surrounding the property. The loop includes a variety of road surfaces, corners, and undulations, mimicking real-world driving conditions.
A notepad left in vehicles allows editors to jot down their thoughts after a test, and after two weeks, everyone's feedback is compiled. The highest and lowest scores for each vehicle are then thrown out, and the results are used to determine the best vehicles in each category: cars, trucks, and SUVs.
The 2025 installment of 10Best includes nearly 100 cars, with a diverse range of vehicles from well-known outlets such as Driveshop and North American Vehicle Services. Matt Crisara, a native Austinite with a background in motor racing and journalism, is responsible for the 10Best article.
Previous year's winners are automatically invited to the 10Best test, ensuring a fair comparison between the new and the proven. The team behind 10Best makes use of a middleman that manages multiple fleets of vehicles around the country to connect media outlets with vehicles they want to drive.
The price cap for qualifying vehicles is $110,000, ensuring that the 10Best honours vehicles that offer exceptional value in their respective categories. The results of 10Best will be published in the January/February issue of the Car and Driver print magazine, marking the start of another year of automotive excellence.
