Coca-Cola has reportedly agreed to switch to cane sugar for its Coke brand within the U.S., according to remarks made by Donald Trump.

Original soft drink from the company includes high-fructose corn syrup, a sweetener, contrary to the well-known preference of the U.S. President for Diet Coke, which uses aspartame for its sweetness.

Coca-Cola has reportedly agreed to switch to cane sugar for its Coke brand within the U.S., according to remarks made by Donald Trump.

President Donald Trump has announced that Coca-Cola has agreed to use real cane sugar in its Coca-Cola products sold in the United States, following discussions with the company. Trump described this change as a "very good move" and expressed his enthusiasm on his Truth Social platform.

Coca-Cola has confirmed Trump's enthusiasm but has not yet provided specific details about the change. Currently, Coca-Cola uses high-fructose corn syrup as the primary sweetener in the U.S., a practice that began in 1985. However, the company sells cane sugar versions in other markets such as Mexico and the UK.

It is unclear whether Coca-Cola's decision to use cane sugar in U.S. Coke is a permanent change or a temporary one. The company has not yet commented on Trump's announcement. Coca-Cola already offers a limited sugar-sweetened Coke in the U.S. during Passover, marked by yellow caps.

High-fructose corn syrup, a sweetener made from corn, is commonly used in packaged goods. It is sweeter than regular sugar and cheaper to produce. The Cleveland Health Clinic has mentioned that high-fructose corn syrup is used in packaged goods, and US Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jnr has expressed concerns that it is contributing to making Americans unhealthy.

Coca-Cola's original soda currently contains high-fructose corn syrup. The company has already made the switch to cane sugar in some of its products, including the version of Coke sold in Mexico. Trump's announcement does not specify a timeline for the implementation of cane sugar in Coke beverages sold in the U.S.

Lifestyle choices and business decisions intertwine, as Trump's announcement about Coca-Cola using real cane sugar in U.S. Coke products may prompt discussions about food-and-drink preferences, potentially influencing consumer choices. This shift in sweeteners could impact finance, too, as cane sugar might alter production costs and subsequently affect Coca-Cola's business operations.
