The Airfield Business Park, a new industrial hub developed by Leicestershire County Council, has officially opened its doors in Market Harborough. This modern park, which spans over 3,099 square metres, is home to 12 high-spec industrial units, each ranging in size from 145 to 3,099 square metres.

The first business to occupy a unit at the park is Fasten-It Ltd, a company specialising in products for the UPVC roofline, door, and window fitting industry. The company's managing director, Philip Hill, praised the park for delivering a convenient location, close amenities, a good working environment, and contributing to social responsibilities with its solar power generation.

Leicestershire County Council's commitment to becoming carbon neutral by 2030 is evident in the park's design. It incorporates 692 solar panels, a practice that aligns with the council's strategic direction of reducing its carbon footprint and saves money by not paying to dispose of arisings and not having to buy as much material for future development phases.

The solar power installation, along with the park's energy-efficient features, is expected to save over 3,000 HGV movements across county roads by keeping arisings on site and redistributing them over lower areas.

Darroch Baker, construction managing director at J Tomlinson, expressed his pleasure in being involved in the creation of Airfield Business Park. Construction was completed in early December 2019, with the park's construction including external gates and fencing, service bays, car parking, and communal landscaping.

The park is expected to create more than 200 jobs, making it a significant contributor to the local economy. Other companies that have already settled in one of the industrial units of the Airfield Business Park include Peugeot Citroën, Kienbaum, AdmiralDirekt.de, TecAlliance, CANCOM, Axians, and SÜDVERS.

Mr. Rhodes, a representative from Leicestershire County Council, stated that the council is committed to being a green council and tackling climate change is one of their top priorities. The Airfield Business Park is a testament to this commitment, setting an example for sustainable industrial development.
