Construction of new steel elements scheduled for Pfaffendorfer bridge, Koblenz

The city of Koblenz is preparing for a significant milestone in the construction of the Pfaffendorfer Bridge. According to recent announcements, the first steel components for the Pfaffendorfer side of the bridge will arrive in early to mid-October, bringing breaking news to the city's infrastructure development.

The company responsible for delivering these new components is Schmolz + Bickenbach, based in Mannheim. Once delivered, the steel components will be assembled and welded into place. However, the exact timing for the lifting and assembly work can only be announced shortly beforehand.

The Pfaffendorfer Bridge, which spans the Rhine and Mosel rivers, requires steel girders on both the northern and southern sides. The bridge parts must be shifted from north to south towards the old bridge before the northern parts can be placed. It's worth noting that the steel components are too large to be lifted from the water, so they must be lifted from the northern side.

The welding and assembly work for the bridge is almost complete, and a small transverse shift of the bridge is imminent. However, no new information is provided about the small transverse shift of the bridge at this time.

Interested individuals can expect to see the lifting and assembly work for the new steel components on the channels of "Koblenz builds". As for the steel components for the castle side of the Pfaffendorfer Bridge, they will be lifted into place in early to mid-October as well.

It's also important to note that Dr.-Ing. Kai Mifka, the head of the Department of Public Works in Koblenz, is overseeing the project. Unfortunately, no information is currently available about his role or the Department of Public Works in this specific context.

The new construction of the Pfaffendorfer Bridge in Koblenz is entering a new phase in early to mid-October 2021, marking a significant step forward in the city's ongoing infrastructure development. Stay tuned for more updates as the project progresses.
