The A93 between Regensburg-South and Saalhaupt Triangle is currently undergoing a significant pavement renewal project on the eastbound carriageway (direction Regensburg/Hof), which will last from early April until mid-December 2025 [1]. As a result, the road is restricted to one lane towards Regensburg and two narrow lanes towards Munich.

During this period, several key exit and entry points are affected by the construction works.

Bad Abbach Interchange

The on-ramp to A93 towards Regensburg has been closed since May 23, 2025, but reopened during the day on July 31, 2025 [2]. The exit from A93 coming from Munich towards Bad Abbach, however, remains closed and is expected to reopen only by mid-September 2025 due to extended construction work along the exit ramp [2]. Motorists wishing to exit at Bad Abbach from Munich must continue to Regensburg-South and follow a detour (U80) via local roads.

Pentling Service Area

The exit to the Tank & Rast Pentling service area for traffic coming from Munich on the A93 is planned to reopen on August 5, 2025 [2]. However, the entry from the service area onto the A93 towards Regensburg will remain closed until mid-October 2025. Drivers who want to continue from the service area towards Regensburg should follow the signed route on the A93 towards Munich/Holledau to the Bad Abbach interchange, where they can turn around and drive towards Regensburg.

Saalhaupt Triangle

Until mid-December 2025, it is not possible to directly enter A93 towards Regensburg from the B15 (former B15n) at Saalhaupt Triangle to avoid congestion and accidents in the single-lane section towards Regensburg [1]. A detour via the A93 towards Holledau/Munich with a turnaround at Hausen is signposted. Similarly, the exit from A93 coming from Munich to B15 towards Landshut at Saalhaupt is closed until mid-December 2025, with a detour (route U2) via Hausen and Schierling-Nord in place.

The Federal Highway GmbH, South Bavaria Branch, is carrying out this comprehensive road resurfacing project on the A93 between Regensburg-South and the Saalhaupt Triangle. The exit at the Bad Abbach interchange for traffic coming from Regensburg will reopen on July 31, 2025, as previously stated. The exit to the Pentling service area for traffic coming from Munich will reopen on August 5, 2025.

Motorists coming from Munich should use the detour route U 80 via the R 4 and the St 2143 to reach the Bad Abbach interchange. Drivers are advised to plan their journeys accordingly and to check the latest traffic information before setting out.
