Consultation by the Commission on a draft directive aiming to safeguard workers from risks stemming from electronic networks' utilization.
In a bid to ensure the safety of cyclists and other road users, the city's traffic monitoring, in collaboration with the Municipal Outdoor Service (MOS), carried out targeted enforcement actions against illegal parking on bike lanes from August 18 to 22 and September 1 to 5.
During the two weeks of intensive enforcement, a total of 286 traffic violations directly related to bike lane parking were recorded and penalized. Out of these, approximately 50 drivers received verbal warnings, while four vehicles had to be towed away due to repeated violations.
The enforcement actions were conducted during both morning and evening hours, with two additional bicycle teams from the traffic monitoring department patrolling the entire city to enforce traffic violations.
Three teams consisting of traffic monitoring and MOS personnel checked 18 specific locations within the city, identified by the ADFC (General German Bicycle Club). However, the exact locations where parking violations on bicycle lanes are particularly frequent and where intensified monitoring by city traffic surveillance is planned were not explicitly stated.
The warning fine for illegal parking on bike lanes is 55 euros. If other traffic participants are obstructed due to such illegal parking, a fine of 70 euros and an additional point in Flensburg will be imposed.
Mayor Soren Link stated that blocking bike lanes is dangerous and they will continue the targeted enforcement actions and strictly penalize any violations. He emphasized that illegal parking on bike lanes remains a significant traffic violation, posing a danger to cyclists and other traffic participants.
The city's traffic monitoring will continue enforcing controls, with a focus on bicycle teams. It is hoped that these measures will contribute to a safer and more efficient city traffic for all participants.
