Consultation Held Over Proposed Directive on Worker Radiation Safety Regulations
The Cockpit Association (VC), representing Lufthansa pilots, is urging the Lufthansa Group to commence swift and serious negotiations regarding the pilots' retirement age and transitional pensions. This comes as significant vulnerabilities in the existing pension systems for Lufthansa pilots have been exposed, leading to growing discontent among cockpit crews.
Dominik Lelle, a member of the online editorial team of AERO INTERNATIONAL since 2023, has been closely monitoring this discourse. His enthusiasm for aviation drives him to make the world of aviation accessible and engaging for readers.
According to VC board member Frank Blanken, immediate action is required due to these structural disadvantages for pilots. The weaknesses include the predictability of retirement, financial stability post-flight service, and transition solutions for pilots retiring before the statutory retirement age.
In response, both collective agreements, the age pension (TV Rente) and the transition pension (TV ÜV), are now open for renegotiation. However, the VC has already terminated these agreements, effective from January 1, 2025, for the age pension, and April 30, 2025, for the transition pension.
The VC's collective bargaining committee has presented Lufthansa Group with concrete proposals for meeting dates, aiming to initiate negotiations in May. The VC anticipates constructive proposals and a genuine commitment to resolving the issue from Lufthansa Group.
The impasse in negotiations is no longer sustainable, the VC underscores. Further delay could jeopardize the dialogue and undermine the confidence of the flying staff. The VC cautions against further delay in negotiations and may consider alternative courses of action if progress is not made.
Beyond the editorial office, Dominik Lelle is an avid traveler, always eager to explore new horizons. As the debate surrounding Lufthansa Group pilots' age and transition pension intensifies, it remains to be seen how the negotiations will progress. The VC is committed to engaging in dialogue with Lufthansa Group, with the aim of finding a resolution that addresses the pilots' concerns and ensures their financial security in retirement.
