Couple Arrested in Eichstaett for Social Security Fraud and Illegal Residence
Officers from the Financial Control of Illegal Work in Ingolstadt have searched the residence of a Bosnian-German couple in Eichstaett. The couple is suspected of not registering construction industry employees for social security, and an illegally residing Bosnian construction worker was found working for them.
The investigation, led by the Finanzkontrolle Schwarzarbeit (FKS) of the German customs, uncovered that employees were working off the books, either unregistered or registered with insufficient wage sums. These workers were putting in an average of 30 to 60 hours per month. The couple is also under suspicion for assisting in the illegal residence of the Bosnian worker. Further investigations are ongoing.
The couple's residence was searched due to suspicions of social security fraud in the construction industry. An illegally residing Bosnian worker was discovered during the search. Additional investigations are being conducted for suspected assistance in illegal residence.
