Customs Raid in Augsburg Targets Illegal Work in Taxi and Rental Car Industry
Customs officers in Augsburg have been cracking down on illegal work and employment practices in the local taxi and rental car industry. Last week, they conducted inspections at numerous businesses, leading to administrative and criminal proceedings.
The Financial Control of Illegal Employment (FKS) of the Main Customs Office Augsburg carried out the inspections on September 23, 2025. They visited 20 businesses and interviewed 89 individuals about their employment relationships. The FKS, which regularly conducts focus inspections with increased personnel, found 18 cases that require further investigation.
The inspections were part of the FKS's ongoing efforts to reduce illegal work and ensure compliance with the legal minimum wage and social security obligations. An administrative fine procedure and a criminal procedure were initiated following the inspections.
