Customs Seize €17M in Counterfeit Luxury Goods, Warn of Growing Trend

Counterfeit goods worth over 17 million euros have been seized by customs teams at the Suben customs office. The haul included clothing and accessories from over 140 high-end brands, highlighting the ongoing issue of counterfeit goods in the region. The Main Customs Office Landshut, which oversees the Suben office, is committed to protecting businesses and consumers from such illicit activities.

The counterfeit items, which included jackets, pullovers, T-shirts, jeans, scarves, socks, hats, and over 9,000 fake packaging and labels for shisha tobacco, were intercepted in truck loads hidden among non-branded goods. Most of these goods were found to have originated from Turkey. This is not an isolated incident; counterfeit technical articles, personal care products, and food preparations are also popular among counterfeiters.

The Main Customs Office Landshut is taking steps to combat this issue. They will be hosting Zollinfotage events in Altdorf (April 26, 2025) and Passau (May 10, 2025) to inform the public about their work. Additionally, they monitor the export of waste from the EU and dual-use goods, such as a laser cutting machine destined for Iran, to ensure compliance with regulations. Inquiries can be directed to their press spokesperson.

The seizure of these counterfeit goods underscores the importance of the Main Customs Office Landshut's work in maintaining fair competition and protecting both businesses and consumers. With upcoming events and ongoing monitoring, they continue to strive to combat the problem of counterfeit goods in the region.
