Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas names a new partner within their corporate division.
In a strategic move towards expansion and reinforcing its corporate practice, leading Indian law firm Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas (CAM) has appointed Abhishek Kalra as a partner in its corporate practice. With over 12 years of post-qualification experience, Kalra specializes in mergers and acquisitions and private equity [1][2].
Kalra, who holds a BA LLB from Bharati Vidyapeeth (2012) and a professional program certificate from The Institute of Company Secretaries of India, returns to CAM after a stint at Trilegal. Prior to his time at Trilegal, he served as a principal associate at CAM from 2020 to 2023 and has also worked at Naik Naik & Co, AZB & Partners, Desai & Diwanji, and CAM [3].
Based in Mumbai, Kalra will leverage his expertise to advise multinational corporations and private equity clients on investments, acquisitions, exits, and related corporate governance across sectors such as healthcare, financial services, manufacturing, and IT [1].
This appointment is a significant step for CAM, demonstrating its commitment to attracting top talent in the legal industry. The move aligns with CAM’s recent expansion efforts, including multiple partner promotions across various practices to better serve clients nationwide [3].
CAM, which operates from key business hubs like Mumbai, Delhi-NCR, Bengaluru, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Chennai, GIFT City, Singapore, and Abu Dhabi, is currently engaged in an expansion plan. This includes promotions and strategic hires to strengthen its presence in various sectors and regions [4].
With over 1,100 lawyers, including 220 partners, CAM is one of India's largest full-service law firms. The firm's expansion plan is aimed at further solidifying its position in the legal industry and providing superior client service [5].
Earlier this year, CAM promoted 18 lawyers to partnership across practices such as corporate, dispute resolution, finance, capital markets, and real estate. These promotions were spread across offices in Mumbai, Delhi-NCR, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad [6].
Kalra's expanded role at CAM focuses on providing senior-level leadership and expertise in complex corporate transactions, driving corporate practice growth, and strengthening client service in CAM’s Mumbai office.
