Daily evacuation of around 70 vehicles in Sochi due to parking infractions
In a bid to improve parking compliance, the administration of Sochi has taken decisive action against vehicles illegally occupying spaces reserved for drivers with disabilities. A recent raid on central streets, including Vinogradnaya, Voykova, Vorovskogo, Neserbskaya, Plastunskaya, and others, resulted in the impounding of 37 vehicles.
A photo released by the Administration of Sochi shows the impounded vehicles from the raid. However, the type of vehicles impounded (passenger cars or trucks) and the specific location where the raid took place are not indicated in the photo.
It's worth noting that parking in designated disabled spaces without an appropriate permit is prohibited and subject to fines, with a penalty of 5,000 rubles for parking in spaces reserved for drivers with disabilities, as reminded by the administration of Sochi.
The raid forms part of the administration's systematic efforts to address parking violations. Yet, specific data on the effectiveness of parking enforcement efforts in Sochi, particularly regarding disabled parking spaces, is not readily available.
The resort is experiencing an average of 60-70 cases of improperly parked vehicles daily. On this occasion, a total of 37 vehicles were taken to the impound lot.
18 tow trucks for passenger cars and one for trucks are currently operating on the resort's streets, ensuring the removal of improperly parked vehicles.
Despite the lack of information about the number of parking violations cases that occurred daily during or after the raid, the raid serves as a clear message that Sochi is committed to maintaining order and accessibility on its streets.
The Administration of Sochi, in an attempt to improve accessibility on its streets, has extended its systematic efforts beyond just parking violations to include enforcement in the finance sector, imposing fines of up to 5,000 rubles for parking in disabled spaces. Moreover, the city is also making strides in the transportation industry by deploying 19 tow trucks for passenger cars and one for trucks to ensure the removal of improperly parked vehicles, thus maintaining order in the industry.
