Dangerous Speeding Incident: A commercial driver races at 145 mph on a busy highway, posing a possible deadly risk

In an alarming incident that unfolded on Thursday evening, a 40-ton truck driver was stopped by police on the A3 motorway in the district of Würzburg. The truck, travelling at an excessive speed of 145 km/h, had been reported by other road users as moving erratically and unusually fast.

The police investigation, which was prompted by the concerned reports, revealed that the driver was intoxicated. A breath alcohol test confirmed a level of 1.08 per mille, well above the legal limit. As a result, the man was forced to surrender his driver's license and an investigation into drunk driving has been launched against him.

Prior to the incident, the truck had been clocked several times travelling at high speeds throughout the day, according to data collected from the vehicle. The maximum speed limit for trucks on motorways is 80 km/h, a regulation the driver blatantly disregarded.

Despite the ongoing investigation, the name of the truck driver involved in the incident has not been disclosed in the available reports. Blood samples were drawn from the man to determine the exact level of his intoxication. The truck was also inspected for any potential damage or malfunctions that may have contributed to the driver's erratic behaviour.

This incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of drunk driving and the importance of adhering to speed limits, especially for those operating large vehicles like articulated lorries. The authorities are urging all road users to remain vigilant and report any suspicious behaviour to ensure the safety of all on the roads.
