Delays on Trains to Sylt due to a disruption in the route
In the early hours of today, a points failure at Lehnshallig disrupted train traffic between Niebułł and Westerland on the Sylt line. This issue has caused significant delays and limited service on the affected section, with only single-track operation currently possible.
The disruption began at 5.45 AM and continued until 9.30 AM, affecting both passenger and car trains. Afterwards, train traffic was resumed with restrictions, but the single-track operation remains in place.
Initially, the railway anticipated that the delays could continue until September 20. However, following intensive work by technicians, the expected repair time has been revised to tomorrow morning. The spokesperson for the railway confirmed that repairs are progressing well, and a major repair of the points is necessary to restore regular train traffic.
Despite the ongoing repairs, restrictions on train traffic are expected to continue until tomorrow. Passengers are advised to check the latest updates on their journeys and plan accordingly. The railway apologises for any inconvenience caused and thanks passengers for their understanding and patience during this disruption.
