Demolition permit granted for a crowded market in Cebu City government.
Heads Up! Fresh Tack on Cebu City's Residential Dispute
Over in Barangay Mabolo, Cebu City, a bunch of families have been busy whipping up some makeshift abodes at North Reclamation Area (NRA) – but not exactly by choice. The courts have given the green light to demolish their beloved homes for some time now.
These residents made the Sitio Laray Holy Name their home, only to find their peaceful monopoly disrupted when the land under their feet was contested at the highest level.
Mayor Raymond Alvin Garcia found himself embroiled in a bit of controversy when it was pointed out that he had granted ownership of Block 27 to the city government of Cebu while these families still considered it their own permanent property.
