Derivaat NH3 Invests €120M in Green Ammonia & Hydrogen Plant in Estonia
Derivaat NH3 is investing around 120 million euros in a green ammonia and hydrogen plant in Paldiski, Estonia. The project, supported by an 11 million euro grant, will start with a biomethane-powered gas-fired plant, the Voyager 1E, set to finish in 2028.
The Voyager 1E power plant, a subsidiary of Derivaat NH3 Power, has submitted building permits and passed environmental assessments. It will initially use biomethane, but can switch to green hydrogen if needed. The plant aims to make Paldiski a future hub for green fuels.
Derivaat NH3, owned by businessman Olav Miil, plans to use the power plant to produce green ammonia, a crucial future raw material. The plant's stable, controllable energy production is expected to help stabilise electricity prices.
The Voyager 1E power plant, with an estimated investment of 120 million euros and supported by an 11 million euro grant, is set to complete in 2028. It will produce green ammonia and hydrogen, contributing to Estonia's green energy transition and making Paldiski a key industrial hub for green fuels.
