Discussion on Logistics Avenues for 2025: Italcam Reveals Future Logistics Directions

In an effort to explore new horizons in European supply chains, a panel discussion titled "Think upside down" will be held at the Transport Logistic 2025 event. Organised by Italcam along with the Ports of Genoa, this discussion aims to encourage shippers and logistics stakeholders to reconsider traditional approaches by viewing the Southern Ports of Genoa—integrated with an efficient intermodal network—as a strategic and viable alternative to the more commonly used Northern European ports.

The event will bring together representatives from port infrastructure and logistics companies, showcasing the range of services and expertise offered by key players from the Ports of Genoa and Savona-Vado Ligure’s shipping community. Participants will include terminal operators, port authorities, and logistics service providers from these major Italian port infrastructures, as well as representatives from the shipping and logistics sectors connected to these ports.

The strategic "upside-down" approach encourages the utilisation of the Southern Ports of Genoa due to their geographic position at the crossroads of global maritime trade routes and their role as a natural southern gateway for Central Europe’s import/export companies. The discussion will also focus on the role of Italian seaports and their connectivity with the Central European hinterland, as well as the interplay between port locations and logistics service providers.

Meanwhile, Northern Italy is pursuing a system approach that especially holds potential for road freight transport. The three major Adriatic and Ligurian ports of Trieste, Venice, and Genoa have efficient connections to the hinterland, forming an integrated network with direct access to European road and rail freight transport.

In addition to the panel discussion, Italcam is hosting a networking meeting with a business lunch at the booth of the Ports of Genoa on June 4 at 11:00. The events are taking place at Hall A1, Booth 431.

Alessandro Cacciola (Andreas Schmidt Group), Heiko Krebs (Kombiverkehr KG), and Christoph Müller (Paul Hartmann AG) will represent logistics at the event. On June 3 at 16:00, the Veneto region will discuss its role as a central hub under the title "Veneto Logistic System: Moving the Future Together."

These events promise to be an exciting opportunity for the logistics and shipping sectors to explore new strategies and collaborations, with a focus on sustainable transport solutions and the strategic expansion across the Alps.
