In recent times, two German cities, Magdeburg and Neustadt, have experienced power outages. A Halle sign in Magdeburg and a racetrack junction sign in the city were unscrewed, suggesting a broader issue at hand.

In Neustadt, the electricity supply is provided by various local energy suppliers and broader providers. The Stadtwerke Neustadt, operating in different regions such as Neustadt an der Aisch and Neustadt an der Donau, and N-ERGIE Netz GmbH, which covers parts of Bavaria including areas around Neustadt, are among them. Despite these efforts, the city has seen power outages, more frequent than during the DDR times, according to some comments.

The reasons for these power outages remain unknown, but some point to the liberalization and profit-oriented approach in the energy sector as a likely factor. This shift has led to infrastructure neglect, as companies prioritize profits over service quality, potentially leading to supply gaps.

Similarly, Magdeburg has also faced power outages, with many house entrances on Fuhneweg left in darkness, according to comments. The link between these power outages and the neglected infrastructure due to the liberalized energy market is a topic of discussion.

This issue is not unique to the energy sector. Placing public services in the hands of profit-oriented companies can lead to similar problems in other industries, indicating a broader systemic issue.

It's important to note that the companies themselves are not to blame for the power outages. Rather, the system that prioritizes profits over service quality is at fault. As such, efforts should be made to address this issue and ensure reliable electricity supply for all.
