Disruptions Affect Railway Tracks: Bus Services Remain Operational During Construction Works
The High Rhine Railway, which stretches between Basel and Erzingen, is set for a significant change as Deutsche Bahn (DB) prepares to end the era of diesel trains.
The electrification of the High Rhine Railway officially commences this Saturday, marking a step towards a more environmentally friendly transport system. However, this transition will bring about some changes for passengers.
Individual trains will no longer run between Waldshut station and Erzingen. Instead, buses will serve as a replacement on this section of the railway. DB will also operate buses between Villingen, Donaueschingen, and Engen, acting as a temporary measure while the High Rhine Railway undergoes electrification.
Passengers traveling between Engen/Singen and Konstanz are advised to switch to Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) trains during this period. The Black Forest Railway section between Villingen and Donaueschingen will also undergo renovation until October 17, suspending train service.
Preliminary work for the electrification has already started, but the search results do not provide direct information about who will carry out the renewal of the overhead line on the Hochrheinbahn.
Despite these changes, the High Rhine Railway electrification is a promising step towards a greener future for rail travel in the region. Passengers are encouraged to plan their journeys accordingly and stay updated on the progress of the electrification project.
