Dormagen & Chipata Strengthen City Partnership with Upcoming Events
Dormagen and Chipata are set to strengthen their city partnership with a series of events and initiatives. The partnership association will be officially founded in December, with plans already underway to make the partnership more visible and accessible. A children's participation event and a film evening are scheduled for Zambia's Independence Day on October 24.
The partnership has already seen significant progress. A delegation from both cities presented projects at a conference in Gießen from September 8 to 11, 2025, led by Mayor Donald Mwanza and Angela Kampinda from Chipata. The meeting was a success, with discussions on exchange programs for apprentices and young professionals, and a highlight was the 'Evening of Encounters' at the Historic Town Hall.
In Chipata, the partnership has brought tangible benefits. A donated fire truck has extinguished 98 fires, and 50 donated laptops have advanced digitalization in the city administration. Additionally, 10,000 new trees have been planted, reforesting an area equivalent to 28 football fields. An urban drainage plan was also discussed to ensure environmentally friendly drainage of rainwater and wastewater.
The partnership between Dormagen and Chipata continues to flourish, with upcoming events and initiatives aimed at further strengthening the bond between the two cities. The partnership has already brought significant benefits to Chipata, and with the official founding of the partnership association in December, more opportunities for cooperation and exchange are expected.
