The FPSO Baobab Ivoirien refurbishment project, a significant undertaking for Drydocks World, has commenced at their Dubai shipyard. This eight-month dry dock refurbishment program, managed by MODEC Management Services Pte. Ltd., began in May 2025, following the FPSO vessel's removal from the Baobab field offshore Côte d'Ivoire.

The refurbishment aims to extend the life of the FPSO, which had previously ceased production on January 31, 2025, with the final oil lifting completed in February 2025. Upon completion, the FPSO is expected to return to service and support significant development drilling planned to begin in 2026. This drilling campaign will bring meaningful production additions from the Baobab field within the CI-40 license, with ongoing evaluation related to the future development of the nearby Kossipo field.

Drydocks World has a strong track record in vessel upgrades, having completed over 50 similar projects. The FPSO Baobab Ivoirien, with a processing capacity of 70,000 barrels of oil per day and 75 million cubic feet of natural gas, will undergo extensive renovations. This includes 1,000 tonnes of steel renewal, 250,000 square metres of tank coating, and 11,500 metres of new piping. Upgrades will also be made to the crew living quarters and advanced technologies will be integrated to enhance efficiency and reliability.

The project's significance was highlighted by Rado Antolovic, CEO of Drydocks World, who emphasized the company's expertise in complex FPSO refurbishment and life extension projects. The FPSO Baobab Ivoirien project underscores Drydocks World's reputation for quality and safety in such projects.

Gary Kennedy, President of MODEC Management Services Pte. Ltd., also attended the contract signing ceremony. Upon completion, the vessel's operational lifespan will be extended by 15 years. The FPSO Baobab Ivoirien project is a testament to Drydocks World's expertise in complex FPSO refurbishment and life extension projects.

This refurbishment is crucial for maintaining and extending the operational life of the FPSO, ensuring Vaalco Energy can continue offshore oil production efficiently in the region. The project, commencing in May 2025, will last for eight months, marking a significant milestone in Drydocks World's portfolio of complex FPSO refurbishment and life extension projects.
