A46 Closure and Detour
From Tuesday, July 29, at 9 PM, the A46 towards Wuppertal between Bilk and Eller will be completely closed. The detour for this closure will go via the A57, A1 (Rhein bridge Leverkusen), and A3, or locally via Bilk or Eller. This closure is separate from the Flehe Bridge closure in July and August.
The on-ramps at Bilk, Wersten, and Holthausen will also be affected during this closure. The A46 road surface, spanning 120,000 square meters, will be renewed with a new asphalt top and binding layer, which is expected to finish on Monday, August 4, at 5 AM.
From Tuesday, August 5, at 9 PM to Monday, August 11, at 5 AM, the A46 towards Heinsberg between Eller and Bilk will be closed. During this time, cycling paths on the A46 will not be affected.
The most significant closure is the Flehe Bridge, which will be fully closed from Friday, August 15, 10 PM, to Monday, August 18, 5 AM. While the bridge is closed, cycling paths on the Flehe Bridge will remain open. Corrosion protection work and follow-up work from previous measures will be carried out on the Flehe Bridge.
The cost of these repair works is 4.5 million euros. After the repair works are completed, faster journeys can be expected on the A46.
