Ealing Pension Fund Adopts Equity Strategy Aligned with Paris Climate Agreement Guidelines
The Ealing Pension Fund, a London Collective Investment Vehicle (LCIV) partner fund, has taken a significant step in its decarbonisation strategy by transitioning its equity holdings to the Legal & General Investment Management (LGIM) Paris Aligned Fund. In Paris, 2025, the Fund moved £395.8m into the Paris-aligned strategy, marking a shift from the previous Low Carbon Target Index Fund. This move was part of the Ealing Pension Fund's aim to achieve a net zero target by 2045. The LGIM Paris Aligned Fund, provided by Legal & General, is a key component of the Ealing Pension Fund's Paris-aligned strategy. The Fund invests predominantly in large-cap US companies, with more than 20% of its holdings in technology stocks, such as Nvidia and Microsoft. The restructured LGIM Paris Aligned Fund enables the Ealing Pension Fund to exercise greater influence over individual holdings. The transitioned equity holdings have been moved into a Paris-aligned vehicle, allowing for pass-through voting and income distribution. The Fund's performance has been impressive, outperforming its benchmark - the Solactive Developed Markets Paris Aligned ESG SDG Index - by one percentage point. Over the past year, the LGIM Paris Aligned Fund delivered a return of 6.18%. The Ealing Pension Fund's choice of Legal & General as its fund provider for the Paris-aligned strategy is noteworthy. The London Pension Authority has taken over the Paris-based fund management for the Ealing Pension Fund, ensuring a seamless transition. The LGIM Paris Aligned Fund is part of the Ealing Pension Fund's broader decarbonisation strategy, which aligns with its goal to meet its 2045 net zero target. As the Fund continues to grow and evolve, it will be interesting to see how it contributes to the Ealing Pension Fund's commitment to a sustainable future.
